Fact Check of Episode #7

The 1980-81 Auburn Wrestling Team that won the SEC and finished in the top 10.

The 1980-81 Auburn Wrestling Team that won the SEC and finished in the top 10.

Discussing our excitement for the NCAA season to start this weekend we didn't have the chance for too many mistakes (we caught a couple mistakes on air).

- Here is a link to the Auburn Wrestling article I cited. It's a great article. It's really tough to find any definitive history other than Kevin Jackson wrestled for LSU. What I think wrestlers don't understand, although I don't think it'll make us feel any better, other men's sports have greatly suffered as well. The SEC doesn't have Men's Soccer. The only Men's sports that have full 14-school participation in the Big Ten are Basketball, Football, Golf, and Wrestling.  That's kind of insane.

- Kevin Jackson was a 4-time All-American. His first 3-years were for LSU and then he was a runner-up for Iowa State as a senior when LSU dropped their program. He won World Freestyle Championships in 1991 & 1995, and of course won the Olympic Gold Medal in 1992.

- Braden Atwood (Purdue) was not an All-American last year. He is a 3-time NCAA qualifier who is ranked #7 by Flowrestling heading in to this season. He should have a very good year and be on the podium as a senior.

- And here's Kevin Jackson's 1992 Gold Medal Match.
