Wrestling Ray Lewis in HS Had to be Terrifying

Imagine being the non-athletic, novice wrestler in high school, and then seeing Ray Lewis come to the table to check in to face you. In Florida, there are probably dozens of guys who had this experience.

The Hall of Fame linebacker was an honorary captain this summer for Team USA during the annual Beat the Streets event in New York. Sports Illustrated did the article in which you can find here.  "There is nothing like that one on one battle" he said in the interview.

Lewis would choose football and head to University of Miami before the storied NFL career. However, he found plenty of on the mat success. He was a runner-up as a Junior and a Florida 4A state champion as a senior. Here is the video where Sam Ancona defeated the Junior making him hold a trump card in almost all bar stories.

You might have missed Helen Maroulis being honored by giving the Ravens a pre-game speech this summer after her Olympic triumph. It was hardly the first time wrestling had been represented in that locker room. Ray Lewis "officiated" the match between linemen Kelly Gregg (3-time Oklahoma state champ) and Art Jones (two-time New York state champ and brother of Jon Jones).

Arthur engaged in an impromptu wrestling match back in 2011 with then fellow Raven Kelly Gregg. The defensive lineman was a three-time Oklahoma state champion in high school at Heavyweight (1993-1994-1995). Arthur was a two-time New York state HS champion in wrestling. That is Ray Lewis giving the color commentary.
