Team USA aka the Fighting Gable Eagles dominated India to open the competition. While USA was heavily favored, Joe Colon scored what most would consider an upset by beating credentialed Sandeep Tomar. Colon came back from a 4-0 deficit using a takedown and a gut wrench to even the score before icing the match with a late takedown. After an opening takedown by Sharvan over Logan Stieber, India basically became victims of a Team USA highlight reel. Kyle Dake and David Taylor finished their opponents off in 37 and 59 seconds respectively.

USA ripped off seven straight wins to top Japan 7-3 in their second dual of the day. Carver fans grew restless watching Japan win the first three though. Gilman was unable to avenge his World Championship final from last year. The crowd thought Maple had scored a buzzer beater takedown to win but the challenge showed Koyanagi's knee never hit the mat. Stieber's attempt to comeback after an early 8-0 hole fell short. James Green stopped the bleeding with a controlling 8-5 win and Jordan Burroughs took our a returning world medalist 7-1. In the last 5 matches Japan had no answer for murderer's row with the American's scoring tech falls in each match.
