It’s here. It’s finally here. The NCAAs return to Detroit Michigan. Being born and raised about 30 minutes West of Detroit in Ann Arbor, I feel uniquely positioned to give you some direction on where to go and how to spend your time in between sessions this next week. I also sprinkled in some music and video’s of historical significance as they relate to Detroit. Have fun and see you soon.

Wrestling is one of my all time favorite things. Zombies are also one of my favorite things. When I have a reason to combine the two I’m going to do it EVERY SINGLE TIME. This was one of those opportunities. I had a chance to interview Life University’s Head Women’s Wrestling Coach - Ashley Flavin - about her team’s success so far this season, and about the Zombie Apocalypse. Local West Michigan Wrestling Program allows old media guy to come in and get some workouts in. What I learned in my two trips into their room was that they are here with the mindset and mentality to win now, and it shows in their two True Freshman National Qualifiers. Here I walk through some of my experiences in the room and you can hear interviews with their two qualifiers - Trevor Marsman and Thade Radosa.

Kendall Coleman has been one of the more electric and exciting wrestlers since his debut a couple years ago. Everyone of his matches is going to involve some fireworks and he’s proven that he’s one of the best wrestlers in the country at 157 pounds. Despite his skills and abilities, he has had to be more patient than many to reach his goals. Here we discuss his first two years in college wrestling, how he’s navigated through COVID and injuries, and how he’s put himself in position to achieve those goals this year.

In the waning days of 2021 I was fortunate to speak with Kyle Ruschell - Head Wrestling Coach at the University of Tennessee Chattanooga. We discuss what goes into putting together the Southern Scuffle, some of his favorite moments, and we talk about what we’ve seen from his team so far this year. The Southern Scuffle will be aired on Flowrestling on January 1st and 2nd.

Wrestling in college is really hard. Getting into medical school is also super hard. Doing both of those things is really really hard. It takes a lot of effort, energy, and support. Here I speak with Drew Mattin about what it’s like to be a real student athlete.

Izzak Olejnik impressed me the very first time I saw him wrestle. Then again the second time, and the third, and so on and so forth. Here we explore “Who is Izzak Olejnik?” and learn about how his work ethic was instilled into him from a very young age.

NCAA Wrestling Season is right around the corner. It’s going to be the greatest season of all time. Use semantics all you want to convince me it won’t be, but it will be, and that’s that.
