Maryland had a Tough Weekend

James Green picked up his 100th career win against Maryland this Sunday.

James Green picked up his 100th career win against Maryland this Sunday.

Maryland opened up their first ever Big Ten Conference schedule with a road trip to Wisconsin and then Nebraska. The Terps found out in a hurry that the Big Ten slate is going to be a rough one.

On Friday, Maryland fell to Wisconsin by a score of 28-12 winning 2 matches and collecting a forfeit. On Sunday, things didn't fare any better dropping 9 of 10 matches to lose 42-3 to Nebraska.

Both of these teams are ranked (#11 Nebraska & #18 Wisconsin), but the road doesn't get any easier. They "get" to host Penn State, Ohio State, Iowa, and Minnesota and matches with Illinois, Rutgers, and Northwestern to round out the schedule.

Many programs view the Big Ten as a decided advantage. Reasons for being in the top conference for competition, exposure to Big  Ten Network, and dual attendance can help recruiting. However, the competition this year will probably be more than desired.
