Bump Was No Problem

Judging by the seeds and many analysts picks, many thought the bump up to 86 kg for Kyle Dake & David Taylor was going to take some time to adjust. Sometimes you can overthink life (a problem a dummy like me rarely has) and this proved to be true when it came to predicting the results of the two most popular wrestlers in the country. 

Kyle Dake beat David Taylor again, but the real takeaway for me is the wins that led up to the renewal of the one-sided rivalry. Taylor defeated Ed Ruth & Richard Perry to reach the finals while Dake beat Jon Reader & Keith Gavin. Those are all big guys who are very good wrestlers. Perry and Taylor were at the NCAA's two seasons ago but Perry was in the 197 bracket while Taylor was at 165. Dake & Taylor being able to bump up successfully is a great sign for USA Wrestling as that Jordan Burroughs guy isn't going anywhere. Now the question is, who can beat Dake at 86 or is it his spot to lose?

Of course, there were 17 other brackets. Daniel Dennis dropped down and looked like a handful. Jimmy Kennedy survived the deepest bracket of the weekend. Both these weights seem incredibly fluid as we head towards determining who will go to Rio.
