Missouri Cruises Past CMU

Missouri won back to back matches in rideout tiebreakers at 133 & 141 to take seven matches in Mt Pleasant on Sunday beating Central Michigan 26-9. The win extends Missouri's undefeated match streak to 37. You actually have to go back two seasons to January 31st at Oklahoma State to the Tigers' last dual loss.

The officiating was under fire early and often from the home crowd as not much happened in either match early. In rideouts, Synon and Manley were able to hold on to win. In Synon's match, the ref erroneously awarded a stall warning and point in the rideouts with 15 seconds left despite it being the first stall of the match on Synon. Therefore instead of another overtime, Synon's hand was raised. Manley dropped down to a leg at the end of their 2nd rideout, but the ref did not immediately start counting. His count only reached about 4 and a half to not award a stall point that would have caused another overtime.

Another near miss for Central Michigan happened when #3 Lavion Mayes was able to stay undefeated on the year as #11 Colin Heffernan threw whatever he had at him. It wasn't all bad news for the host Chippewas though as #10 Mike Ottinger edged #9 Blaise Butler 3-2.

Missouri would put the dual away with three other top ten guys flexing their muscle. Lewis dominated Atienza at every turn. Ellingwood nearly finished the first take down of the match multiple times in the same series before Miklus stepped over and pinned him. Former national champion J'den Cox then showed his skill level with a smooth 16-3 takedown clinic of a victory.
