Michigan Hosts Oregon State

Michigan will open up 2016 when they host Oregon State on Thursday at 7pm in a non-conference dual.

Oregon State is an interesting team led by a couple dangerous wrestlers on the ends of the lineup, Ronnie (Rios) Bresser at 125 and Amarveer Dhesi at 285. Michigan answers in those weights with a couple All-Americans of their own.  Michigan is favored in every other match that could make a dual lopsided, well at least hope for if you're a Michigan fan.

Rios was the 10-seed last season and went 2-2 at the tournament in his freshman campaign. He just took 2nd in the Midlands, and is off to a good start. Youtsey took 6th at the NCAA's earning All-American honors after a slow start to the season. He's off to another slow start so this is an intriguing match to see where both guys are right now.

Coon & Dhesi are well documented wrestlers who have met in all three styles, most famously in the Junior World Championship semi-finals. Dhesi (representing Canada), clipped Coon in a razor close match. Coon defeated Dhesi 7-2 two seasons ago as the freshman struggled in his campaign. Dhesi's folkstyle struggles continued as he did not place at the Midlands.

Michigan appears to be headed with their best lineup, but do have a couple question marks. After Logan Massa took 2nd at the Southern Scuffle, many wonder if Michigan will continue to keep the redshirt on Massa going forward. He would probably be ranked in the top five if he were to start for the Wolverines this week. Zac Hall is now healthy and had mixed results at the Southern Scuffle. It'll be interesting to see if the highly touted redshirt freshman gets the nod over Fisher this week.
