The bright lights of Vegas provide a great back drop for the annual Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational that always brings out the stars. I'm going to lead off with two Michigan guys like a total homer. 

Freshman Logan Massa (Michigan) destroyed fellow freshman Valencia (Arizona State) 17-4 in the semis and then he wasn't done there. In the finals, he used (of all things) a riding time point to beat Isaac Jordan (Wisconsin) 8-7, the 2016 NCAA runner-up and two-time Big Ten champion. Massa has been on a tear since he stepped on campus with only one loss as a redshirt, to Dieringer in the Southern Scuffle finals. While it is an early season tournament, Isaac Jordan is once again a legitimate NCAA contender and now it appears you can say the same about Massa. 

Gabe Dean (Cornell) is going for this third NCAA title. Despite this, many don't consider him a Hodge contender since the tough weight class won't give him the dominant stats to keep up with the other candidates. After Zavatsky (Virginia Tech) bested Myles Martin (Ohio State), Gabe Dean tech'd him....quickly & angrily. This was after Dean started the day with four first period pins. 

There are plenty of results to go through, and I don't envy the rankings makers this week. National champ contenders went down as well with Brian Murphy (Michigan) not even placing and Brian Realbuto (Cornell) falling to Zahid Valencia (Arizona State) in the finals.
