Big Ten Pre-Seeds & Thoughts

michosu2.jpg

The pre-seeds are out for the 2018 Big Ten Championships for this weekend adding to the already enormous levels of excitement. The pre-seeds have basically become the official seeds, once brackets come out Friday afternoon after the coaches' meeting, with very few changes.

The team score for the Big Ten tournament can be intriguing the way the different weight classes depth vary with only 14 teams. For instance, 165 is a bear and 141 isn't but 3rd place at 141 is still worth more than 4th at 165 (minus bonus point variables). You sometimes get some weird cases like two years ago Nebraska being in first after the morning session, but underdogs in most of their semifinal matches. Penn State & Ohio State both have eight guys in the top four seeds while Michigan & Iowa follow with six.

These give you a good, almost accurate picture of what the quarterfinals and semifinals will shape up with knowing the fur will fly this weekend early and often.
